This is the first picture of the new Porsche Panamera, the second generation of the company's four-door Grand Tourer.

According to the company, the new car is a rethinking of the original, is even more effective to combine two seemingly contrasting sides of his character: sports cars and luxury cars. Not only is this new model looks different from its predecessor, inside and out, the engine, transmission and chassis has been revised, while the cabin, including a new set of controls for the infotainment system.

At first glance, there is no doubt that the new model Panamera, but which differs from its predecessor in having a line of lower roof - which makes it look more like a company supercar icon 911, especially in profile - as well as being longer and wider, and has a wheelbase longer.

Another new feature that will be evident for a Panamera-Philes included A-shaped air intake that provides front-end view of the latest cars are very different, the new LED lights and LED rear lights in a manner connected by a narrow strip of LEDs.

At the same time, the cabin has been significantly altered from what we have come to expect from Porsche. the company has reduced the number of display and buttons, replacing many of them with touch-sensitive controls that offer a stylish smartphone operation.

For example, although the central rev counter dial-conventional, it is flanked by two digital screens, while the center console is dominated by a 12.3-inch touch screen that controls the infotainment system.

To improve the practicality of the car, the rear seats split 40/20/40, allowing 495 liter boot to expand to 1304 liters; and, among the choices will be a panoramic sunroof, a massage chair, lighting and top-end Burmester stereo.

Buyers will also have a choice of three bi-turbo engine, all uprated to produce more power, yet fuel efficient, of similar units in the Panamera earlier. 4S has a gasoline engine 2.9-liter V6, while there is a diesel V8 Diesel 4S and Turbo has a 4.0-liter petrol V8 with cylinder shut-off technology that stops the operation of four cylinders when the engine is under light load.

0-62mph time is what you would expect from Porsche: about 4.5 seconds in two 4S models (4S Diesel made the fastest production diesel-engined cars), and as little as 3.6 seconds in the Turbo, when equipped with the Sport Chrono Package. Given that level of performance, it is remarkable that on average more than 40mpg Diesel and Turbo even average more than 30mpg.

To handle such power, the new Panamera has a revised chassis, and the options include adaptive air suspension with the Porsche Active Suspension Management system, as well as a new steering system. On top of that, the car also has a revised version of the rear axle steering system from the 918 Spider and 911 Turbo. 

Among the safety features available are a night vision assistant, which uses a thermal imaging camera to detect people and large animals and display a warning in the cockpit. Drivers also have access to the new InnoDrive system, which uses information from the sat-nav, radar and video sensors to work out the best acceleration and deceleration rates for the next three kilometres. 

The new car will be available to order from June 29th, and first deliveries are expected in November. Prices start at £88,700 for the Panamera 4S; the 4S Diesel costs £91,788; and, the flagship Panamera Turbo will be £113,075.
