The 2017 Citroen C3 will go on sale in early 2017, with a focus on style, technology and personalisation that the company hopes will tempt buyers away from rivals such as the Ford Fiesta, Vauxhall Corsa and Renault Clio

Citroen has released the first images of the new supermini, the C3. A similar-sized rivals for big-sellers like the Ford Fiesta and Vauxhall Corsa, was due to go on sale in the UK in January next year.

Unlike some of its competitors, C3 comes only with a five-door body; and, as far as Citroen is concerned, the new model stands out thanks to the design, ample scope for personalization and modern technologies.

styling - with a high nose and flowing curves - clearly follows on from the recent Citroen's C1 and C4 Cactus, with C3 featuring a unique 'Airbumps' which was first seen on C4 Cactus. Two chrome bar that runs from the double-chevron badge attaching LED daytime running lights, while setting down lights follows the arrangement of the 'two-tier' are familiar from other models.


Two-tone body allows buyers not only a choice of three colors for the roof (which is supported on the windshield pillars black), but also a choice of colors for the foglamps, rear view mirror, rear window surround and Airbumps.

Inside, too, the buyer has the opportunity to personalize their cars, with a choice of four 'packages mood'. Standard color schemes have a more yellow-stitched upholstery, while Metropolitan Grey uses soft colors and textiles; Urban Red combines dark and light colors to give more 'dynamic' feel; and, Hype Colorado comes with materials that are more upscale, including two-tone, leather-covered steering wheel.

Technology is another big selling point, and the car is also equipped with Citroen 'ConnectedCam', which allows the driver to film their journey, both for sharing on social media or to be used as evidence in the event of an accident. The car also has MirroLink, CarPlay Apple and Android Auto, which allows drivers to connect their smartphones and access their functions via the touch screen; and, among other equipment available on the voice-operated car sat-nav, a reversing camera, lane departure warning system and a blind spot monitoring.

The company said the basic design of the cabin is intended to provide a feeling of space. Indeed, the claim that the C3 is the most spacious cars in its class and is packed with all sorts of ingenious storage facility. Trim dashboard runs across the full width of the car, while the centrally mounted seven-inch touch screen infotainment system take care, keep the number of buttons on the dashboard to a minimum.

The range of engines will include three three-cylinder petrol engines and two diesel units, all of which are familiar from other models Citroen. All come with a manual gearbox as standard, but the automatic gearbox will also be available in the future.

There has been no word on specs or price of the car, but Citroen has confirmed that he will go on sale in the UK next January.
