The new Brabus 850 Biturbo 6.0 Cabrio makes its world debut at last weekend's Le Mans 24 Hours as the fastest and most powerful production four-seater convertible in the world.
Based on the Mercedes-AMG S 63, the car has 838bhp and a top speed of 217mph.,
Two-door convertible accelerates from 0-62mph in just 3.5sec, while top speed is electronically limited to 217mph because of restrictions tires. For comparison, the Mercedes-AMG S 63 developing 577bhp, has a 0-62mph time of 4.4sec and a top speed limited to 155mph.
Brabus says the 850's V8 engine twin-turbocharged engine capable of producing large 1069lb ft of torque, but it has been electronically limited to 848lb ft to protect the drivetrain. Power is transferred to all four wheels via a seven-speed automatic transmission, with the aluminum paddle shifters on the steering wheel allow for manual changes.
850 features carbonfibre body parts including those made to the intake side of the air surrounding the large front bumper, and covers for the rearview mirror.
Lightweight, Brabus-designed 21in forged wheels are mounted and is said to offer an optimal combination of maximum strength and low weight. There are a variety of tire designs to choose from and the option to upgrade to the 22in wheels as well.
Inside, features include a variety of aluminum components, scuff plates with backlit Brabus logo that changes color in sync with the color ambient interior lighting, and interior carbonfibre components that replace the production of wood inlays and trim strips.
Brabus 850 Biturbo Cabrio 6.0 are on sale now. Alternatively, the owner of Mercedes-AMG S 63 convertible can have their cars upgraded to 850 specifications. Price yet to be confirmed.
