HONDA'S PEOPLE MOVER SIGNS ON FOR A LONG HAUL

Long-Term Road Test
Honda Pilot has been among our favorite ways to move more people and gear since it first appeared shortly after the dawn of this century. And we've also always liked the Odyssey minivan, so when the new Pilot debuted for 2016 are looking an awful lot like the Odyssey, we immediately put in our order for the long term. (Okay, we'll probably want one no matter what it looks like.)

There are bones beneath the skin Odyssey Odyssey-impersonation, but there is also a new, 280-hp V-6 paired with the first nine-speed automatic that once passed through our long-term fleet. Nine-speed is standard on Touring and top-of-the-line Elite trim level.

We chose the latter because it came with a second line that limits occupancy for seven-and then only if the three of them in the back seat normally declared their age to lift a finger. We have concluded that this is the maximum occupancy limit to keep the driver sanity.
