Only two months after the debut of the latest Civic sedan, which is lighter, slimmer, and generally sweet, Honda has introduced the 2016 Civic coupe sexier. Look pretty much identical to the concept that was introduced earlier this year save for tamer lower-body attachment, two-door Civic ditch some practicality and rear-seat sedan space for healthy dollop of style, while appearing to leave the other models of virtue intact.
First, kudos for Honda to keep the coupe in the first place. And double shots to make it look good praise it. In front, little changed compared with the sedan, but from the A-pillar back, it is a different animal. Top of the roof just above the front seats and rear side glass tapers inward to provide a beefier rear fender. Some 5.5 inches truncated rear overhang than the sedan, and what is left has been finer sculpted and highlighted by the curved graphic of the taillamps. The result is a car that looks muscular and planted, and fresh and futuristic, personally. Views are much easier and much sportier than the sedan a more intensive designs.
Interestingly, Honda show car in the EX-L trim-and put on wheels and a rear spoiler Honda accessories but will not be included with certain trim levels. Speaking about the trims, the coupe model will be offered in the same variation as the sedan, from basic to high-zoot LX Touring, the latter getting Touring sedan slanted LED headlights, large wheels, and more.
Inside, the Civic share dashboards, seating position, and a selection of infotainment with the sedan. While the rear seat is smaller than the four-door, was wider than expected-five feet, ten inches writer sitting in the back and match up well, although the rear-window glass does not come quite close to his noggin. Furthermore, the seat cushion and seat back angle can both be characterized as very natural and comfortable. Honda did not release the full specs on the car but says that the interior space ride away from the Civic coupe prior to the tune of 8.4 cubic feet, with rear legroom by more than five inches.
Civic coupe will also follow sedan powertrain program for the letter, which means that it will be offered with a choice of 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque, while Honda's sweet 1.5-liter turbo four with 174 horsepower and 162 lb-ft will be offered on higher trim. Both models will be offered with a CVT, while the 2.0-liter will also be available with a six-speed manual in the base trim. (The 1.5-liter is scheduled to be paired with the manual, in both coupe and sedan body styles, at a later date.) Like the sedan, the new Civic coupe is lighter, but Honda does not specify how much. EPA city / highway fuel economy for CVT equipped models are expected to 31/41 mpg for the 2.0-liter and 31/42 for the turbo.
The Civic coupe goes on sale in March as a 2016 model, with more Civic spinoffs—including a four-door hatchback and the Type R—on the way. Prices for the new coupe have not yet been announced.
