Difficult what makes the 2016 Volkswagen Golf. Looking at it purely as a car, it is very very good: timeless appearance, peerless build quality, spirited performance, the fuel economy is respectable by and large, the whole package of compact cars. But put a window sticker on it-P-1759000 and 1.4 TSI Highline does not seem like such a bargain again. Price is pretty much limits the everyman appeal of Volkswagen cars. And while Corolla or Civic buyers looking to upgrade will not be lining up for the Golf in the near future, they are quite willing to pay a premium will definitely be in for a treat.
Exterior treatment is not flashy by any measure. Taking styling cues introduced on the Jetta and the Passat, it's a little more mature and aloof. Compared with Japanese brands in this class, do not go to crazy Golf, sweeping lines or odd-shaped tail lights. Instead, it is much quieter, relying on the proportion of timeless elegance and a more planted stance. He is set to play homage to the classic Golf with all the design cues-C-pillar and the roof to name two, but done in a way that does not go full-on retro.
The look and feel mature continues when you step inside. The door itself was gratifyingly heavy, the true sign of solidity. Settled in, there are not many distractions that get in the way: there is a pop-up screen, nothing fancy looking infotainment controls, it's all straight forward in design and implementation makes it all the more refreshing. It also feels more premium to the abundance or soft-touch materials and high quality trim pieces. squared-off center stack, with buttons that are nice and large, tactile buttons, angled towards the driver, making everything easy to use and operate. There is only one criticism you can throw the interior and the abundance of aluminum adorn the dashboard. Y2K called and wanted to cut back. It is a personal choice, but a darker color will be modernized look.
Like the Golf GTI, Golf ordinary adopts 5.8-inch touchscreen infotainment same. Overall, it works very well, playing a song that clearly and aurally satisfying and seamless pairing with a smartphone. Graphic and aesthetic feel fine, but countless menu and sub-menu did take a while to master.
Manually adjustable seating and offers excellent support for eliminating driver fatigue even on the longest road trip (one seat had done Golf Quezon City to NLEX to SCTex to Slex to Makati). The rest of the driving controls of the same thin, three-spoke steering wheel flat trustworthy, pedal position is good, and very legible gauges. Overall great visibility, making it easy to drive in the thickest of the traffic congestion, although tailgate and rear pillars do robbed some rear visibility (a potential problem for parking). Fortunately, the front and rear parking sensors standard.
interior space is fine as long as you bring together three intimate friends close. It's not as extensive as other compact cars out there, but at least there is a good shoulder and headroom front and rear. Cargo space is also respectable and can easily take on the task of shopping with little difficulty.
If there is one product Volkswagen can not afford to mess up, it is Golf and thus, it is imbued with the involving driving dynamics. Despite having the power figures are not really anything to write home about, it gives experience balanced by the number engine, sharp handling, and good fuel economy.
Employing a 1.4-liter TSI engine with the Beetle, the machine looks small for a driver-oriented hatchback. However, it gives on-road performance that will surprise even the most discerning thrill seekers. This pushes out the healthy figures: 160 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque numbers that put it in the same league as competitors force-induction 2.0-liter or 1.5-liter normally-aspirated. Moreover, all of the available torque low in the power band from as low as 1,500 rpm and plateau until 4,500 rpm. This makes the rocket Golf honorable way, immediately off the power line. There is a slight lag when you press the throttle from a stop, but once the machine gets rolling and hits the sweet, it was a godsend. Small, turbocharged engine is a cutting edge though as throttle input should be set with precision. Anything less leads to undesirable jerkiness, especially in stop-and-go traffic.
All in all, the Volkswagen Golf live up to the hype. It's fast and courteous refund agile and balanced driving experience that is sure to brighten any trip or a Sunday morning coffee run. Compared with other compacts out there from Japan, Golf is not only feels like a good solid car and building aesthetics, but also very interesting to drive. This really is engineered inside and out and it shows. That said, it may be too over-engineered and a bit of a price adjustment could do some favors Golf (at least here in the Philippines). Of course, a select few will get what Golf has going for here, and they'll appreciate it; but a hefty price means most will not be able to afford or are willing to take the risk of Germany.
