KiA unveils ALL-NEW RiO SuperminI

The fourth generation of the small hatchback We have a new look inside and out, but like its predecessor will provide a good-value alternative to the more familiar rivals.

The new Kia Rio has been launched at the Paris Motor Show. It will go into production UK towards the end of 2016.

The fourth gene Rio has been redesigned inside and out - with straight lines and smooth surface.

At the front, the grille thinner and wider, and the lights have become thinner and more sculpted than the previous model. Meanwhile, at the back, now almost vertical windscreen and the rear lights are thinner, with an arrow-shaped LED lamp. However, while the details are thinner, the car itself has plumped out a bit, expanding the width by 5mm (to 1,725mm).

It is not only growing wider. The fourth-gen Rio has a long bonnet, longer front overhang, a 10mm longer wheelbase and rear overhang is shorter than Rio exit. In total, which translates into a car that is 15mm longer (thus roughly the same as the Ford Fiesta), and 5mm lower.

On the inside, the cabin has been redesigned, too; and, while the cabin is no greater feeling of space, according to Kia. There is also a new infotainment system, and high-resolution touch screen that sits on the dashboard to reduce the number of buttons. That powers the audio, navigation and connectivity system of the car.

Buyers can choose upholstery fabric black or gray, or imitation leather. There are also 'red pack' option, which gives a black color with a red faux leather-trimmed upholstery throughout, to go with a gloss black and metallic trim in the cabin.

The previous version of the Rio has come up with four engine options: 1.25 petrol and 1.4-liter or 1.1 diesel and 1.4-liter. The possibility that the new model will have the same offer, although Kia has got a 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbo engine is fully developed, which could also be an option.

No price has been revealed, but there may be a small increase over the previous model thanks to the additional equipment. The cheapest version may be available from a little over £ 10,945, making it an affordable competitor to the Ford Fiesta and Volkswagen Polo.
