Meet the Mitsubishi XM Concept, Now Green Lit for Production

Mitsubishi has released the first full photos of its new crossover MPV before its debut at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show. Called the XM Concept, it’s been green lit for production at the company’s new factory located in Bekasi Prefecture, Indonesia.

The XM Concept is unique in that it seamlessly fuses SUV-like styling with MPV-like functionality. It expresses all-terrain performance with its flared front and rear fenders and generous ground clearance. Upfront, it has Mitsubishi’s eye-catching Dynamic Shield front design concept that’s visually striking while adding protection to the occupants inside. Underneath, the XM Concept has integrated guards that add protection to vital components.

Inside, the XM Concept has three rows of seats that provide a roomy interior for seven while allowing for a variety of seat arrangements. A horizontal dashboard design meanwhile accentuates the width even more. It has a wide, elevated center console, high-contrast black/white interior scheme, and silver accents for a refined look.

A production version of the XM Concept will roll off the assembly line in Indonesia by October 2017. Mitsubishi Motors hasn’t commented if that will be slated as a global product or if it will be primarily for the Indonesian market.
