2019 Mercedes-AMG A45 to get 400 Bhp

BMW M2 and Audi RS3 rival, the A45 AMG, will get a power hike with its next-generation models; expected in 2019

Next Mercedes-AMG 4Matic A45 is set to get a further boost in performance from the manufacturer.

The move is part of a plan to improve the competitiveness of the four-wheel-drive mega-hatch rivals such as Audi RS3 and BMW M2, sources told Autocar recently introduced.

Currently in the early stages of development, the second generation A45 is scheduled to go on sale in early 2019. It will be the flagship model for an extended range A-Class model will include a petrol-electric hybrid plug-ins.

Changes in the A45's body structure means that it will be a little longer than the current version and adopt a higher percentage of aluminum in an effort to maintain a similar curb weight. It will also display the latest version of the gasoline engine-appointed AMG M133 2.0-liter turbocharged and multi-plate four-wheel drive system used in the current model.

fourpot the 2.0-liter engine will be given a series of changes that include revised fuel injection, a turbocharger modified and refined revision to the combustion process. This tweak is said to allow the machine to kick out up to 200bhp per liter - a figure that suggests more than the increase in the reserves 20bhp more than 400bhp.

This compares with 375bhp to the existing A45, which gained 20bhp increase over the original model earlier this year. It is also significantly more than 362bhp from the turbocharged 2.5-liter and 365bhp RS3 fivecylinder of the turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder M2. Accompanying the more powerful engine will be the AMG version of the nine-speed automatic gearbox dual-clutch Mercedes', which will be introduced on a less powerful version of the A-Class at the end of 2018.

With the new software maps and a unique ratio, along with tweaks to the four-wheel drive and differential electricity, less than 4.0sec 0-62mph time is considered as a key engineering goal for the new A45.

A45 will not be the only model in the AMG-engineered the new A-Class line-up, though.

Autocar can confirm that there are also plans for a second-tier models in a move similar to that made up the Mercedes-AMG line-up with people like C43, GLC43, SLK43 and E43.

Secrecy surrounds the AMG model lower-rung new, but people at the headquarters in Affalterbach performance division suggest it closely will challenge the Volkswagen Golf GTI.

It is understood to forgo updated M133 engine used by the A45 next to a powered-up version of the standard 2.0-liter turbocharged engine M270 Mercedes', developed around 275bhp.
