Audi will move into the era of design more dramatic next year, kick-started with the launch of the all-new Audi A8 and fast after that with the launch of the new A7, A6 and Q8 models.
the display will be exhibited by the new A8 - which will err on the power when it is revealed in the fall of 2017 - and the new A7, which will be more overtly sporty and will be revealed at the end of 2017.
However, the new A6 - will be launched early in 2018 - which will take on a new design language, which is led by Marc Lichte who joined the company from VW in February 2014, to the mainstream. boss dramatic look sporty Audi hopes will be a major differentiator in the battle for sales with the more conservative and more BMW 5 Series styling 'Russian Doll' of the range Mercedes today.
Since her arrival Lichte has caused a shift in design means all Audi will be designed around three pillars sophisticated, and progressive sport. Key philosophy that will introduce more dramatic, sporty look, are supported by the company's heritage with the original Quattro.
2014 Audi Prologue concept has reportedly designed after the production version of the A8, A7, A6 and Q8 are signed and are believed to provide strong clues about how they would all look. This includes the A6 sedan and Avant, with the latter said to combine generous boot space with a dramatic appearance thanks to the dramatic roof line plunge straight down to the extreme sloping C-pillar.
Thus, strong, Quattro-esque upper thighs and rear wheels is expected to get the look that is always more prominent. Other key design elements for the A6 and A6 Avant will include a wide hexagonal single-frame grille, LED corner lights with distinctive graphics and caps significantly heavier contoured. The side view also features several dramatic lines to give the car greater visual drama.
The new A6 is said to have a slightly longer wheelbase, a wider track and shorter overhangs than the current car, in order to provide a visual presence that much more sporty. The new layout will also provide a little more interior space and boot larger in both sedan and Avant models, up from the current 530 liters and 565 liters respectively.
A8, A7 and A6 are all designed together on the MLB platform VW Group under the internal codename C8 and all share the same platform, driveline, chassis and electrical systems. As a result, the A6 will also be equipped as standard with the interior layout of the new company, which utilizes digital display in the instrument binnacle, pioneered during the Audi TT, as well as two touch screen in the middle of the dashboard.
The top screen, in the driver's eyeline, will display the most commonly used systems such as sat-nav, while systems such as air-con will be controlled by the lower screen. For the first time, the screen will provide haptic feedback so that the user has the sensation of pushing the right buttons. However, the physical buttons will be limited to about only half a dozen, as required by law. Underlining sports theme is more overtly, the touch screen will be more aggressively angled towards the driver on sporty models including the A7.
Touchscreens as well as a new interior layout of the A6, A7 and A8 will be dramatically different from today's, featuring a cleaner look with a marked step between the different levels. The touch screen is integrated into the central area, the dash sweeps designed to provide a more spacious cabin, more sophisticated feel. Reports indicate that the A8 dashboard may not even have air vents that look, but the layout of the A6 and A7 is said to be more conventional.
One of the physical buttons will control the functions of the new artificial intelligence that Audi is believed to be growing. All of these systems will be updated to use the new connectivity platform that uses wireless local area network technology to allow for a continuous update of traffic conditions for navigation systems and updates of software for control systems.
The new platform adopts a high percentage of high-strength steel hot-molded, aluminum and carbonfibre-reinforced plastic to reduce weight. audi sources suggested entry-level four-pot petrol A6 good weight below 1535kg of the A6 1.8 TFSI today.
Power for volume-sellers will continue to come from an extended range of four-cylinder engines. It will be a revised version of the current gasoline and diesel fours and offers the same output as that used by the new A4.
A6s more luxurious gasoline will use 4.0-liter V6 and 3.0-liter V8 engine sourced from the new joint venture engine Audi-Porsche 'Kovomo', according to an insider.
Audi is also planning a new range of V6 and V8 diesel engines with turbocharging electricity - Audi technology will launch in the coming SQ7.
Additionally, Audi A6 buyers will provide system selection gasoline-electric hybrid or diesel-electric plug-ins.
