After showing off the much awaited compact sedan Civic, Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. is now showing some love to the executive sedan Accord with offering with a sharper exterior design and a host of new comfort and safety features.
Massaged to give a sporty look and more contemporary, revise the 2016 Accord front end with a sharply angled and contoured hood, grille more clearly, and Honda Signature LED Lighting. This sophisticated LED lighting system consists of LED lights, daytime running lights, active cornering lights, fog lights and front multi-projector LED. The rear has also been tweaked with a sporty bumper and LED tail lamps with tube "light guide" design. In every corner, new alloy wheels complete the transformation by 2.4 received 17 and 3.5 V6 gets 18's.
Under the hood, the Accord remains unchanged. 2.4 S remains powered by a 2.4-liter DOHC i-VTEC 4-cylinder that produces 175 horsepower at 6,200 rpm mated to a 5-speed automatic with paddle shifters. Meanwhile, 3.5 S-V gets namesake 3.5-liter V6 with 281 horsepower at 6,200 rpm mated to a 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters as well. New for 2016 is that both models receive cruise control.
Adding more convenience, the Accord now has Remote Engine Start Function. First seen on the Pilot and Civic, allowing the engine to be started remotely, allowing the vehicle to activate the climate control, effectively cooling the cabin even before occupants move in it.
In connection with the interior, the Accord continues with ergonomic and luxurious execution. The center console and dashboard have been tweaked this year, adding a high-gloss piano black accents for a more sophisticated look.
Although the Accord made a controversial dual-screen infotainment set-up, display zone has been enhanced with higher resolution graphics and can now simultaneously display the same information such as: trip computer, audio, and compass. The bottom screen has also been updated to display the advanced audio 7-inch touchscreen that incorporates Honda's new GPS navigation. This screen also works hand-in-hand to operate the phone hands-free and audio streaming via Bluetooth connectivity.
Upping the luxury factor, Accord is available with leather seating, electric chair adjustable front, the system start thrust, dual zone climate control, rear A / C vents, a pair of pull-up shades rear windows, electrically operated rear glass shade, and behind the backrest center control as standard. Both variants are also equipped now with an additional switch which allows the rear passengers to move the front passenger seat to his / her wishes. 3.5 S-V is a variant exclusive to get a sun roof.
In terms of safety, six airbags are now standard on all models of the Accord such as anti-lock brakes (ABS) with distribution Brakeforce electronics (EBD), vehicle stability assist (VSA), hill start assist (HSA), a multi-view rear camera, front sensor and rear, and an emergency stop signal (ESS). Model 2016 also introduced LaneWatch. First seen in the CR-V, LaneWatch system helps increase the visibility of the driver's blind spot. By engaging the right turn signal or press LaneWatch, real-time display of constant right side of the vehicle is displayed on the i-MID system.
2016 Accord is available in five colors: Crystal Black Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic, Carnelian Red Pearl (by order), and White Orchid Pearl (with P 20,000 premium). The suggested retail price is: P 1788000 for 2.4 S and P Navi 2.288 million for the 3.5 S-V Navi.
